JaySri Welcomes You

1456 days since our wedding

its been a year and i've survived it!

010209

guys and gals, ladies and gentlemen, thaaymaargale sagodharargale, its official. i've survived one year of marriage with my lovely dovely vidhya... vidhya'd always wanted to say that but i got down to this first... speed is king dear. :)

as i'd just emailed my family, marriage has been an interesting journey - a rollercoaster ride of sorts with more ups than downs, but with enough downs to ensure we grow up together and learn tp pick ourselves better and faster everytime.

it seems just like yesterday that we were seated on the wedding mandapam dias as i tied the nuptial knot amidst much fanfare, blessings and support from friends (many of whom made their way to india from singapore) and family. and yet it does seem like quite a while ago. it is one of those things. while we recall those fresh memories vividly, we have come a fair way. for starters we'd gotten our singapore wedding reception done, moved into our newly reconstructed place, our parents have had to relocate to the States and I'd finally be leaving the army this year. if there's one wish that both of us have post-marriage, it is probably that we'd have wished we could have stayed with our parents (parents-in-law for vidhya) at home as planned, but appa's work commitments dictated otherwise. we hope to have them rejoin us in singapore soon.

otherwise, i shan't ramble on much more. i shall leave a link to photos of our recent short hyderabad trip in jan this year. had gotten to present at an ophthalmology conference there, courtesy of Singhealth, and we sure enjoyed ourselves. do check it out when/if time permits! - http://picasaweb.google.com/jaytona/HyderabadAsiaArvo2009#

NZ honeymoon pics!

Here are the New Zealand honeymoon pictures uploaded as promised! The place was so beautiful that even some of the shots Vidhya took turned out great! Don't believe me? Check out the pics! :) - http://picasaweb.google.com/jaytona

Jaysri Back in Action

Dear family, well-wishers and friends,

Check out http://picasaweb.google.com/jaytona/JaysriKalyaanamReception for the "Jaysri" Good Friday (210308) wedding reception photos! And do read the other previous entries if you haven't done so before. Wishes for the couple are still accepted :) Pls expect new features to the website in the coming weeks/months.  (For starters can check out new blog entry by Jayant)

Spot the least true statement:

1. Jaysri.com's back!

2. Jayant has lost 2 kg of weight since marriage. Aah the stresses of matrimony. :)

3. Vidhya and I both had a fantabulistic wedding reception dinner in RTC on March 21, with the blessings of God, our parents, professors/mentors and many many dear friends! It was an unforgettable evening organized by my bro, Amit and his team of my dearest friends including Ridhi, Soma, Paul, Preeti, Preethi, Krithika, Preethi (this is not a typo), Farid, Shahrier and Benedict.  Thank you guys!

4. Vidhya has gained "-2 kg" of weight since marriage. Ah, the joys of matrimony :)

5. Many of my friends and many strangers even who chanced upon jaysri.com just kept coming back for more only to be disappointed that the website's been dormant over the last 4 months. Most of them found the "Jayant blogs" segment, the most interesting and refreshing piece of web material they've ever read in a while and are clamoring for more! Who can blame them?

6. Many have asked the 2 of us to keep the site going and yes, upload the pics. Even my bro and sis have not gotten to see the photographs of that magical evening yet.

7. A few of my friends who are intending to tie the knot have flattered us by similarly setting about their own matrimony websites as well. Reading through some of their website material has rekindled memories of our own pre-bondage, i mean pre-marriage memories - and helped relieve us of the intertia wrt the site. So jaysri.com, here we go!

8. Before marriage Jayant thought Srividhya looked as pretty as Aiswarya Rai. After marriage Jayant thinks Aiswarya looks almost as pretty as Srividhya ... ... ...

9. The person who mails jaytona@gmail.com the correct answer as to which of the statements are the least true stands to win a free trip for 2 to Solomon Island!

Singapore Wedding Reception

Vanakam and Welcome all!

Vidhya and I have now enjoyed a month and 10 days of married life and boy has it been fun (and hectic...but mostly fun... honest). The India wedding was fantastic (read entries below) as was our 10-day honeymoon in New Zealand!

Once we got back to Singapore in mid-Feb, it was back to business. Our schedules have been such that we get to see each other perhaps twice or thrice a week in the evenings, so that we can pay our dues and do the duties we missed while away on marriage leave! Argh... Also we've been busy moving into our newly reconstructed house (will upload pics soon)! So we've been kept busy alright.

Our wedding reception on Mar 21, Good Friday evening 1830 hrs, would be held at Raffles Town Club. We look forward to seeing all of you there. The Dress Code would be "Shirts and Sarees" and we hope to have a nice memorable function that everybody can enjoy. Please check out "Wedding Program", "How to Tie a Saree" and other segments for more info. Also see below entry for links to see our photos at the wedding ceremony in India!

Hope you have fun browsing through the site!

HAPPILY MARRIED!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, but mainly Ladies, Jayant V Iyer is now no longer available, I repeat, Jayant V Iyer is now no longer available!

He has just been merrily bonded to the shackles of blissful matrimony with Srividhya, who is now Srividhya J Iyer.

After an enjoyably exhausting and elaborate 2-day South Indian wedding in Chennai, in the presence of many well-wishing Singapore/overseas friends and with the blessings of many family members, the 2 junior docs have tied the knot for a bond that is actually to outlast any of the bonds the Singapore govt/ mindef/ moh has conjured or may come up with, a bond to last a lifetime (and if i were to be romantic a bond to last many lifetimes...)

The Chennai wedding was held on Feb 1, 2008 and would be followed with a Singapore wedding dinner reception on Good Friday evening - Mar  21, 2008 - at Raffles Town Club along Bt Timah Rd.

The newly-weds also enjoyed a fantastic scenic, chill-out yet adventurous honeymoon, in New Zealand that not only included relak-jack sessions and spas/ thermal geyser etc, but also bungee jumping, kayaking and paragliding! Photos will be up in a bit!

Our India kalyaanam (wedding) pics may be viewed on this link: http://picasaweb.google.com/krithu/VidJayWeddingAlbum?authkey=WmNg36cPzhA !

WELCOME! VANAKKAM! NAMASKAARAM!

Dear family, friends and well-wishers,

It is our pleasure to let you know that we - Srividhya Venkataraman Iyer and Jayant Venkatramani Iyer - are going to tie the nuptial knot on February 1st in Chennai, India. We are technically (and legally) married as of August 31, 2007, but as we would only get to enjoy the benefits and merriment that matrimony has to offer following the Feb 1st wedding, we eagerly look forward to the date. :)

We would like to cordially invite each and everyone of you to witness and bless our wedding in India.

For those of you who are unable to make it to India for the occassion, we will also be holding a wedding reception dinner in Singapore on March 21, 2008 - a very Good Friday indeed!

We hope to use this website to share all our thoughts, experiences, apprehensions, excitement and joy that we experience as we enter into a life of eternal blissful "bondage". We also hope to share with you updates and information on the wedding in India and the various places you can travel to in and around South India.

We are also keen on hearing your ideas and inputs in the process. We hope you have a pleasant experience sharing in our joy through cyberspace.

Cheers,

Jayant and Srividhya - "Jaysri"
